EPISODE DESCRIPTION

This OPAAL podcast is about memory recording methods / schemes for people with dementia, what advocacy can bring to them, and how technology could help make memory recording projects do more and become permanent. The benefits, difficulties and possibilities are discussed with, among others, Jan Kendall of the Dementia Advocacy Network, Louise Hughes of Age Cymru, and Alex Henry, project leader on one of the largest ever digital storytelling projects. An example is given of an existing online tool that people with dementia and their families can already use free of charge right now. A supporting QuickStart Guide for advocacy groups looking to start memory recording ventures will be put online by OPAAL in July. This podcast is timed to coincide with Dementia Awareness Week 2012.
